Speakers:

Judy Heumann: When the New York City Board of Education refused to let her teach, even the ACLU would not help, but eventually she won her case. In 1970 Judy helped found Disabled in Action to secure the civil rights for disabled people. Later, she served as deputy director of the Center for Independent Living and led the takeover of the HEW offices to get California to sign the Section 504 regulations. With Ed Roberts, Judy Heumann co-founded the World Institute on Disability, and then served as Assistant Secretary of Education in charge of the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation. In June 2002, Judy Heumann became the World Bank Advisor on Disability & Development. Most recently, Judy served as United States Special Envoy on Disability Rights for President Obama.

Stephen Weiner: A Gallaudet University Professor and Chair of the Department of Art, Communication Studies, and Theater. Stephen has been involved in the deaf and disability rights movement since the 1970s.

Ruti Regan: The Rabbinic Disability Scholar in Residence at Matan, an organization that works with communities towards the full inclusion of Jewish children with disabilities in Jewish education. She is also co-founder of Anachnu, an organization dedicated to disability-informed Torah. She is a 5th year rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary.

Ari Ne'eman: Former President Obama appointee to the National Council on Disability.

Paula Tucker: Gallaudet University Researcher for the Technology Access Program.
