This 12-week Great Books video course offers a comprehensive introduction to the unique series of archaeological documents called the Dead Sea Scrolls, found in the Qumran caves above the Dead Sea shore, as well as scholars' evolving understanding of their authorship and significance.

The course is taught by Professor Gary A. Rendsburg, a dedicated Dead Sea Scrolls scholar who has spent decades immersed in their study. The 24 lecture course (2 lectures each week) explains what the scrolls are, what they contain, and how the insights they offered into religious and ancient history came into focus. Following each class, there will be a TI member-led discussion.
