Learn
Everyone can learn at Tifereth Israel!
Our Himmelfarb Religious School (Sundays and, for some grades, Wednesdays) helps children from kindergarten through grade 6 to develop their Jewish identity through engagement with ancient and modern Jewish rituals, customs and ethical teachings, as well as to develop their Hebrew language skills. Himmelfarb students explore Judaism and Jewish civilization through music, reading, writing and hands-on projects, guided by experienced professional educators. In Junior Chai (grade 7) and Chai School (grade 8), older children and teenagers deepen their understanding of themselves as Jews through text study and discussions of contemporary issues.
To find out more about the Himmelfarb and Chai Schools, contact Rina Rebibo, Education Director, at 202-882-1605 x305. She will be happy to speak with you as you explore Jewish educational options for your children.
Adults at TI learn at every age and at every level of familiarity with Judaism, Jewish culture and the Hebrew language. Whether you want to learn the basics of the Jewish holidays, explore the wisdom of the Talmud, hone your Jewish baking skills, or partake of other classes and learning opportunities, here you will find experts – including our Rabbi as well as many TI members – to learn from and a community of peers to learn with.
To get a flavor of adult learning at TI, check out the 2019 Program Catalog. You and your family are always welcome in our community of learners and teachers!
