The Tanakh (Hebrew Bible)
Sponsored by Gevarim

Tanach Poster with English - JECCMarketplace

The Tanakh was written in ancient Israel over 1,000 years by many authors. This video lecture series will feature Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, Professor of Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt University, who will explore the content, nature, and meaning of the Tanakh – starting with Bereshit and ending with Apocalyptic Literature. She will cover prominent passages from a cross-section of genres – myth, saga, law, proverb, military history, and love poetry – using each passage as an example of how to apply a particular method of interpretation to the Hebrew Bible.

Allan Tulchin, TI member and Professor of History and Philosophy at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, will lead post-lecture discussions.
